House of the Dragon and Kevin Costner have made sure that Better Call Saul had another winless night at a major awards show.
The winner has been announced for Best Drama Series at the 80th Golden Globe Awards, and unfortunately for Better Call Saul fans, it wasn't the Breaking Bad spinoff. At the ceremony, it was revealed that HBO's House of the Dragon, the new Game of Thrones prequel series, had gotten the win. The other nominees for that category included Netflix's The Crown, HBO's House of the Dragon, Netflix's Ozark, and Apple TV+'s Severance.
It wasn't the only nomination for the series, as Bob Odenkirk had also lost earlier in the evening in the category for Best Performance in a Television Series - Drama. His Better Call Saul character's doppelganger, Kevin Costner, would ironically enough be the one to win. The Yellowstone star got award by overcoming Odenkirk for Better Call Saul as well as Jeff Bridges for The Old Man, Diego Luna for Andor, and Adam Scott for Severance.
This marks another winless night at a major awards show for Better Call Saul, the latest after years of frustration for fans hoping to see the series get more recognition. Odenkirk had been nominated at the Golden Globes on four previous occasions, and with these two new nominations, the show has been up for six Golden Globes over the years, and even following its final season in 2022, the win wasn't meant to be. Now, many fans are crying foul, saying the show was "robbed" once again.
